PPP stages token walk out from PA session
Staff Report
LAHORE: PPP lawmakers in Punjab Assembly staged a token walk out in protest against the speaker’s refusal to issue a production order of detained PML-Q MPA Moonis Elahi.
Speaking on the floor of the provincial assembly, PPP leader Raja Riaz asked Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal to issue the production orders of Moonis Elahi so that he could attend the assembly’s session.
Referring to the detention of PML-N's MNA Anjum Aqeel who was brought out of jail to attend the ongiong National Assembly session, Riaz said that the Punjab Assembly Speaker should also follow suit.
However, the speaker refused to issue Elahi’s production orders, saying rules of business don’t allow him to do so.
As a result, PPP's lawmakers walked out of the session for a few minutes. SAMAA
