Obama welcomes Pak-India efforts to lessen tension

WASHINGTON, July 15: US President Barack Obama has ruled out any outside role in the Kashmir dispute but has emphasised the need for other nations to play a role in stabilising Pakistan.

Prices of petrol, light diesel and CNG increased

ISLAMABAD, July 15: The government, through a notification issued on Sunday, increased the price of petrol by Rs1.41 to Rs85.90 from Rs84.49 per litre. The price of High Octane Blending Component (HOBC) was raised by Rs5.64 to Rs112.52 from Rs106.88 per litre.

The price of kerosene has been increased by Rs1.94 to Rs88.19 from Rs86.25 per litre and of Light Diesel Oil by Rs1.62 to Rs85.33 from Rs83.71 per litre...

Balochistan govt plans action against criminals

QUETTA, July 15: The Balochistan government has decided to launch action against criminals involved in kidnapping for ransom, target killings, robberies and other heinous crimes in Quetta and other parts of the province.

A meeting presided over by Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani resolved on Sunday that the government would provide complete security to people involved in the ongoing activities in mining and other sectors and terrorists would not be allowed to affect them adversely...

Haj corruption case: MNA backtracks on allegations against Qadir Gilani

ISLAMABAD, July 15: Pirzada Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, a PML-N member of the National Assembly from Sahiwal, has backtracked on allegations he had levelled against Abdul Qadir Gilani, son of former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani, in the Haj corruption case.

In a statement recorded with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Dec 22, 2010, Mr Shah had accused Mr Qadir Gilani of receiving a luxury bullet-proof Land Cruiser from the former director general Haj, Rao Shakeel Ahmed, the principal accused in the scam. However, after about one-and-a-half years the MNA changed the stance and accused the FIA of cooking the story in order to trap him...
