ISLAMABAD, July 28: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) cautiously welcomed on Saturday the initiative taken by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to unite all political parties on a national agenda as it expressed apprehensions on the possible outcome of the proposed roundtable conference.

Test case for UK, says Malik: Pak to seek visa scam suspect's deportation

ISLAMABAD, July 28: The government has decided to register a case against Mohammad Ali Asad, a central character of the so-called Olympic visa scam, for fraud, impersonation and mis-declaration, issue red warrants and seek his deportation from the United Kingdom.

"We have full right to get him deported. This is a test case for the United Kingdom. We have been cooperating with them for years and now it is time for them to reciprocate," Interior Minister Rehman Malik said at a press briefing on Saturday...

Court orders do not apply to president and premier, says Naek

India bans Iranian oil ships

NEW DELHI, July 28: India has banned US-sanctioned Iranian ships from entering its waters. a development that is likely to affect crude oil supplies to the country, The Hindu said on Saturday.

"We were to import four tankers, or cargoes of about 90,000 tonnes each, from Iran in July. But we were able to get only one as the cost, insurance and freight (CIF) approval was withdrawn by the government," the paper quoted Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) managing director P.P. PML-N punishes Capt Safdar for causing rift

LAHORE, July 28: The Pakistan Muslim League-N has suspended the party membership of its youth wing chief Capt (retd) Mohammad Safdar, who is son-in-law of Mian Nawaz Sharif, and issued a show-cause notice to him for breaching party discipline by criticising leaders of its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter.

PML-N secretary general Iqbal Zafar Jhagra issued the notice on the directives of Mr Sharif, the party chief. It said "impolite and irresponsible" statements of Capt Safdar against leaders had caused divisions in the party...

Anum bows out with national record
