Former PM Gilani arrives in Multan

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>A large number of PPP activists and supporters warmly received him at Rangu Bridge.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Enthusiastic supporters of the former Prime Minister chanted slogans in his favor and in favor of Pakistan People&rsquo;s Party.<br />Addressing a public gathering at Qadirpur Raan on Sunday evening he announced starting of formal campaign for creation of a Saraiki province.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani hoped the establishment of the Saraiki province will fulfil aspirations of the people of Southern Punjab and help resolve their problems.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Talking to media during his short stay at Khanewal Railway Station, Gilani said the constitution is supreme but fact is that it is creation of the parliament which represents one hundred eighty million of Pakistan.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>On this ocassion, brother of former foreign minister and PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pir&nbsp;Mureed Hussain Qureshi announced to join Pakistan People&nbsp;s Party.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Gilani said that he liked to step down but safeguarded the constitution. However&sbquo; he said that no rule of contempt of court exists in the country&sbquo; under which he has been disqualified.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He said that the PPP is following the policy of reconciliation on every issue&sbquo; including dual nationality to strengthen democracy.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Earlier talking to media at Lahore Cantt station&sbquo; Gilani said he has been sentenced for his steps to create Saraiki Province which is aimed at removing sense of deprivation among the people of South Punjab.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He said PPP is the party which restored the constitution to its original shape and it will remain relevant in the next parliament as it enjoys majority in the Senate.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>To a question about the protest of Defense of Pakistan Council against the reopening of the NATO supplies&sbquo; Gilani said that the government neither stopped nor reopened the supplies on the dictation of anyone. He said the government took the decision keeping in view the national interests.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Islamabad: Malik raids check posts, suspends police officials

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The advisor in his private vehicle raided several police check posts specially established by the capital police keeping in view the long march of Defa-e-Pakistan Council and suspended officials of five check posts who did not stop his vehicle for checking.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Rehman Malik took immediate action against them and directed DIG (Security) for inquiry.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Federer beats Murray to win 7th Wimbledon title

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Federer shattering tearful Andy Murray&nbsp;s dream of ending Britain&nbsp;s 76-year wait for an All England Club men&nbsp;s champion.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Federer, playing in his eighth Wimbledon final and 24th Grand Slam championship match, won 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 to join Pete Sampras and William Renshaw as a seven-time champion.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The Swiss great, who has also regained the world number one ranking, is just the third man over 30 to win Wimbledon following Rod Laver in 1969 and Arthur Ashe in 1975.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Murray, 25, bidding to be the first British man since Fred Perry in 1936 to win Wimbledon, has now lost all four Grand Slam finals in which he has appeared.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>On getting back to the world number one, Federer, who now has 75 titles, added: &quot;I never stopped believing.&quot;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Murray, the first British man to reach a Wimbledon final since Bunny Austin in 1938, broke down in tears at the closing ceremony, delivering his speech but faltering on numerous occasions.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>In the opening exchanges of this eagerly-anticipated final, Murray was the stronger player, making the most of his five-year advantage as Federer looked fatigued and ragged.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>With the Duchess of Cambridge, sister Pippa Middleton, Australian great Rod Laver, British Prime Minister David Cameron and even the Beckhams looking on from the Royal Box, it was the Briton who started the stronger.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Murray, defeated by Federer in the 2008 US Open and 2010 Australian Open finals without winning a set, broke in the first game when an uncharacteristic nervy Swiss ballooned a drive volley and that break was backed up by a hold.</p><p>Federer held and retrieved the break, shrugging off the boozy call of &nbsp;I love you, Roger&nbsp; from a male fan in the 15,000 crowd.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Murray survived two break points in the eighth game and made the most of the reprieve when he broke to lead 5-4 as Federer netted a forehand having had to take evasive action to avoid a Murray forehand missile.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The Scot then wrapped up the opener on an unreturned serve -- it was the first set Murray had won in his three Grand Slam finals, with Federer&nbsp;s 16 unforced errors to his opponent&nbsp;s five proving key.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Murray saved a break point in the second game of the second set while Federer, the first 30-year-old in the final since Jimmy Connors in 1984, saved two in the fifth.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The two men served a pair of love games as Federer led 4-3 while Murray wasted two break points in the ninth game as the six-time champion clung on for a 5-4 advantage.&nbsp;The Briton again served a love game for 5-5.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>But Federer held and suddenly carved out a set point with a magical drop volley in the 12th game which caused Murray to push a lob long.&nbsp;Another immaculate drop volley off his toes gave him the set 7-5.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>At 1-1 and 40-0 for Federer in the third, heavy rain drove the players off court for 40 minutes and the roof was closed.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>In a dramatic sixth game, which lasted 20 minutes and went to 10 deuces, Murray took three tumbles to the ground, surrendered a 40-0 lead and Federer broke on a sixth break point for a 4-2 lead.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>A ninth ace of the contest in the ninth game gave Federer the set 6-3 and a two sets to one lead.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Suddenly, the life and vibrancy seeped out of Murray.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He felt his lower back, Victoria Beckham looked even more sombre, and the Scot slipped 3-2 down off a killer, crosscourt backhand drive.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>A 12th ace in the 10th game took Federer to two match points, the first of which was saved but Murray went wide on a forehand to hand Federer victory.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Karachi: Eunuchs protest against delay in NICs issuance

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The eunuchs while protesting said that National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) was not issuing them the national identity cards despite completion of documentation process.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The protesters said that they were also citizens of Pakistan and they also had the right to earn their living in a respected way.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The eunuchs also demanded of the government to provide them jobs.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Young doctors call off strike

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The young doctors have announced to resume work at the indoors and outdoors of all hospitals of the province.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Holding a press conference in Lahore, representatives of Young Doctors Association (YDA), the decision of ending the strike has been taken in the light of the Lahore High Court orders.&nbsp;They said that the court has ordered to stop victimization of the doctors by the Punjab government.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The young doctors said that they will not step back from their demand of service structure; however, they will announce further strategy in the meeting of their General Council after the court proceedings on Monday.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The citizens have expressed their satisfaction and appreciated the decision of calling off strike by the young doctors. <br />&nbsp;</p>


Elahi slams Punjab govt over poor law, order situation

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Addressing a gathering in Gujrat on Sunday, Parvez Ilahi said that Shahbaz Sharif has no right to rule when hundreds of robberey incidents are occurring in every district of the province on daily basis.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He claimed that during all tenures of Shahbaz Sharif not even a single project pertaining to the common masses interest had ever started. Adding he said the fate of the people could not be changed for better merely through talking.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Parvez Elahi said that Punjab is suffering from worst administrative and economic crisis; efficiency of all the departments is deteriorating due to one-man show.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He said that the doctors were protesting, people are dying in the hospitals, even medicines were not available but the Punjab Govt. was not serious resolving any issue due to its false ego.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Parvez Elahi maintained that during our tenure scores of people&rsquo;s welfare oriented works were done which were not even done in the past ever.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He said the present Punjab Govt. believes in destruction rather than in education and it had capped our best IT projects and destroyed all of them and obstructions were being created in the completion of the Cardiology Institute in Wazirabad.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The deputy PM claimed that the rulers who had launched Tandoors schemes thrown our schemes aimed at welfare of the massed in the tandoors.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Leaders of banned outfits not allowed in Islamabad: Malik

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Addressing a news briefing in Islamabad on Sunday, Senior Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik has said that the govenrment will not create any hurdle in the way of tomorrow&nbsp;s long march of Defence of Pakistan Council but nobody will be allowed to take the law in his hands.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He said that all kinds of security measures have been adopted to avoid any untoward incident during the long march. He said that Punjab Police and Islamabad police will fully cooperate with each others to check any untoward incident on this occasion.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The advisor on interior said that security cameras have been installed and four helicopters deployed along the route of the long march to ensure security.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Rehman Malik said that the Prime Minister has directed to provide all facilities&sbquo; including security and drinking water&sbquo; to participants of the long march.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>However&sbquo; he said that members of the proscribed organizations will not be allowed to come to Islamabad and indulge in any activities.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The Interior Advisor appealed to leaders of the Defence Council not to challenge the writ of the government. He said that the DPC leaders have assured him that their protest march will be peaceful and they will cooperate with the security agencies.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Obesity may increase after liposuction: Study

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Brazilian researchers found that within months of abdominal liposuction, there may be an increase in the so-called &quot;visceral&quot; fat that surrounds the abdominal organs.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>But the good news, they say, is that regular exercise may prevent that deep fat from forming.&nbsp;Fat is not &quot;inert tissue,&quot; said study leader Fabiana Benatti, of the University of Sao Paulo.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Visceral fat is particularly undesirable because it&nbsp;s more closely connected to the risks of type 2 diabetes and heart disease, versus the superficial abdominal fat just under the skin.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The current study, according to Benatti&nbsp;s team, appears to be the first to give &quot;compelling evidence&quot; that visceral fat builds up after liposuction -- at least if you don&nbsp;t exercise.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Heirs of police torture victim protest in DG Khan

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to details, a person namely Khalid was allegedly killed in torture by Drakhwast Jamal Khan Police officials on Saturday.&nbsp;The heirs of Khalid put his corpse on Jail Road and protested against police brutality.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The protesters said police arrested Khalid during checking and moved him to an unknown place under accusation of possessing a pistol.&nbsp;Later, Khalid&rsquo;s tortured dead body was found near a local nullah.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The protesting family members demanded the Punjab CM to file a case of murder against those policemen who are involved in the brutal torture on Khalid.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>DG Khan DPO Chauhdry Muhammad Saleem suspended SHO of Darkhwast Jamal Khan and a case of murder has been registered against two police officials.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Target killing victim officer laid to rest in Karachi

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Syed Qamar Raza Naqvi was shot dead by unknown armed people in FC area of Liaquatabad on Saturday night.&nbsp;Political, social personalities and a large number of the people offered the funeral prayer.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Qamar Raza was serving as sub-inspector in Intelligence Bureau (IB).&nbsp;He left behind four sons.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Peshawar: Fire at UN store burns relief goods worth millions

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The godown of United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) located at vicinity of Chamkani gutted on, due to which thousand of tents stored there were turned into ashes.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The eye witnesses said that some welding working was being carried out at the premises of UNO&rsquo;s Office.&nbsp;All of a sudden a flame fell at the place, where bags carrying goods were stockpiled.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>After few minutes the inferno got to the whole store and relief goods worth of millions of rupees went destroyed.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to Kyber-Pakhtunkhawa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain, investigation into the incident has been started.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Changa Manga: Three killed in road accident

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to details, a family of Khushab came to Changa Manga on motorcycle to visit the Mahtabi Lake.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Nasir Abbas was on his way back after the picnic when a tractor trolley loaded with bricks hit his bike near Changa Manga flyover killing his wife Zahida Bibi, 12-year-old Waseem Abbas, 10-year-old Naeem Abbas on the spot while Nasir Abbas critically injured.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Police shifted injured Nasir Abbas and the dead bodies to Changa Manga Rural Health Centre.&nbsp;The tractor driver fled from the scene after the accident.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Two more Gayari martyrs bodies recovered

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to ISPR, the dead bodies of 32 soldiers have so far been recovered from the rubbles in Gayari where recovery work is going on.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>139 defence personnel entrapped under the rubbles in this year&rsquo;s April avalanche in Gayari.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The recovery operation had been started immediately after the incident which will continue till recovery of deal bodies of all martyred soldiers.<br />&nbsp;</p>


DPC long march to Islamabad continues at GT Road

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The long march of Defence Pakistan Council (DPC) from Lahore to Islamabad against the reopening of NATO supply route started on GT Road.&nbsp;The long march included members of the council along with workers of other political and religious parties.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>On Sunday morning, the religious leaders gathered at Masjid-e-Shuhada and offered prayer (nawafil). The group began its protest in the center of Lahore, where several thousand supporters assembled with dozens of buses, cars and motorbikes.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>They plan to link up with thousands more supporters on the city s edge and ride to Islamabad in a long march against the supply line.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Addressing the rally, Hafiz Saeed said that the long march will bring the nation back to the ideology on which Pakistan was made.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The rally will reach Gujrat through G.T. Road tonight and will leave for Islamabad tomorrow. The long march is being carried out under the leadership of DPC chairman Samilul Haq.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to the participants, the long march is peaceful and for the defence of the country. &nbsp;A protest rally would be held in Islamabad on Monday evening.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Pakistan all out for 226 in third Test

<p><br />Pakistan were bowled out for 226 in their first innings after tea on the opening day of the third and final Test against Sri Lanka in Pallekele on Sunday.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Thisara Perera claimed four wickets and Rangana Herath took three after Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field on a seaming wicket.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Asad Shafiq top-scored for Pakistan with 75.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Sri Lanka lead the series 1-0, having won the first Test in Galle by 209 runs. The second Test in Colombo was drawn.<br />&nbsp;</p>
