Nawaz launches fresh tirade against Zardari
MIRPUR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif, on Monday, came down hard on President Asif Ali Zardari, saying that corruption was at its highest in the history of the country.
Addressing a massive public gathering arranged in connection with the election campaign for the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly at Islam Garh, a village near Mirpur, N-League chief said that President Zardari was a man who did not learn from his past mistakes.
The PML-N chief lamented that the public money was being looted with both hands and new corruption scandals of billions of rupees were emerging every day. Nawaz said if he knew Zardari’s intent, he would have never signed Murree accord with him, adding that people have run out of patience.
He advised the gathering not to vote for Zardari’s supporters and vote for his candidates instead. Nawaz said no one knew the intent of the government and vowed that he would not be blackmailed by Zardari anymore. He criticised the government for not constituting commissions over Abbottabad operation, PNS Mehran attack and Saleem Shahzad’s murder, adding that the government was afraid to bring the truth before the people of Pakistan.
He asked the government which forces were pressurising it against forming inquiry commissions over these incidents. He added that the people would not remain silent over negligence on issues of national interest. The PML-N chief said the government was deceiving the nation and ignoring the problems of the common man. He said gas has been provided to big factories but was being denied to common households.
Nawaz said that Azad Kashmir was not a property of Pakistan People’s Party rather it belonged to the 180 million people of Pakistan and five million people of Azad Kashmir. He said no one would be allowed to make fun of the public sentiments. Nawaz said the PML-N will make sure that the people of AJK get their due rights. online
