Follow orders immediately or contempt of court's proceedings will start: SC

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has asked the Federal Secretary Establishment today to follow court’s orders for restoration of Hussain Asghar immediately to probe Hajj corruption scam otherwise court will start proceedings over contempt of the court, SAMAA reported on Monday.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry lead bench resumed hearing of the Hajj corruption case linked with former federal minister for religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi and others.

The Chief Justice expressed stern displeasure over absence of DG FIA again today while Federal Secretary Establishment gave excuse that he is not present in Islamabad.

The Federal Secretary Establishment also failed to present official notice for restoration of Hussain Asghar for continuation of Hajj Corruption scam.

The court expressed stern annoyance over it and asked the Federal Secretary Establishment to restore Hussain Asghar on Hajj corruption scam before 11.30am today or court will start action against contempt of court.

The Chief Justice said in his remarks that every order issued by the court is considered final but a state institute’s attitude towards the Supreme Court of the country is not understandable.

“Right in front of the court, a state institute is doing contempt of the court but remember it that even if chief executive will become a hurdle between the implementation of court’s orders, he will also be tackled” he added today.

Earlier yesterday, immediately after start of case hearing, the Supreme Court expressed stern displeasure over absence of DG FIA and ordered that he should be presented before the court within five minutes but he did not appear.

The Chief Justice said in his yesterday’s remarks that the government tries to save the robbers; who ever shows interest in exposing the corruption he is transferred or removed from the case.

He added that what else can be worse than it that even the Hajis were not spared of corruption and they were looted.
