QUETTA, Oct 26: The Balochistan government sacked on Wednesday two senior police officers for their involvement in the killing of five foreign nationals, three of them women, in Kharotabad area in May.

Former SC judge to investigate corruption allegations in RPPs

ISLAMABAD, Oct 26: The Supreme Court nominated on Wednesday its former judge to head a one-man commission to investigate allegations of a Rs68 billion loss caused to the national exchequer because of delays in the commissioning of two rental power projects — 425MW combined cycle power plant in Nandipur, Gujranwala, and 595MW Chichunki Malian power project.

Pensioner's death in Lahore jolts govt out of slumber

LAHORE, Oct 26: Retired employees of Pakistan Railways started receiving their pension on Wednesday evening, about five hours after a pensioner died and two others fainted while standing in long queues outside a bank in Mughalpura.
Mahmood Khan had come to the bank near the Carriage Shop in Mughalpura on Tuesday morning. Unable to reach the bank's window to get a 'token' for payment, the 70-year-old retired bus driver of the Mughalpura Workshops decided to spend the night there like many others in the hope of getting paid on Wednesday...

Talks on gas price with Turkmenistan make headway

ISLAMABAD, Oct 26: In a crucial round of talks, Pakistan and Turkmenistan stopped short of finalising a gas sale-purchase price for the $7.6 billion Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (Tapi) pipeline here on Wednesday as the visiting team wanted a final go-ahead from its political leadership back home before locking the deal.
A senior government official, however, told Dawn that the final price was expected to be much lower than the gas rates finalised by Iran and Pakistan under the $2.5 billion Iran-Pakistan (IP) pipeline that is expected to start delivering about 750 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMCFD) by the end of 2014. Iran has to deliver natural gas to Pakistan at about 78 per cent of oil parity price...

Intruding Nato helicopters flee when fired upon
