Tight security across country for Eid

ISLAMABAD, Nov 6: Security and law-enforcement agencies have been placed at high alert across the country as the nation celebrates Eidul Azha on Monday with religious zeal and fervour, remembering the sprit of sacrifice rendered by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) in the path of Allah.

Strict security arrangements have been made at places where Eid prayers will be held, especially in cantonment areas. Walkthrough gates and scanners will be installed at the main congregations' venues...

Bomber kills seven outside Afghan mosque

KABUL, Nov 6: A suicide bomber killed seven people leaving a mosque after Eid prayers near Baghlan on Sunday. There were two local police commanders among the victims of the attack in northern Afghanistan, officials said.

At least 18 other people were taken to hospitals with injuries from the attack in Hassin Tal...

Arab League calls emergency meeting on Syria

Urea import approved by ECC, says Gilani

ISLAMABAD, Nov 6: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet has approved import of 700,000 tons of urea and the Trading Corporation of Pakistan has issued tenders for the purpose.

Thai flood death toll hits 500
--------------------------------------------------------------
BANGKOK, Nov 6: The death toll from Thailand's worst floods in decades jumped above 500 on Sunday as the seemingly unstoppable waters crept deeper into Bangkok, swamping main roads and threatening the city centre.

The government said the disaster has now killed 506 people nationwide — an increase of 60 from the figure reported a day earlier. So far no deaths in Bangkok have been reported in the official toll...
