Gas agreement signed with Turkmenistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14: Pakistan and Turkmenistan signed on Monday five agreements and memoranda of understanding to boost cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, media and culture.
One of the agreements relates to the $7.6 billion Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project under which Pakistan will get 1.3 billion cubic feet per day of gas. The TAPI accord is a follow-up to an inter-government agreement signed by Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and India in December last year...

Qureshi makes waves by quitting PPP and NA

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14: Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has finally ended his 18 years' association with the Pakistan People's Party, citing the leadership's decision to ally the party with the Pakistan Muslim League-Q as the main reason for his expected and long-awaited decision.

Five FC men killed, colonel hurt in attacks

LANDI KOTAL, Nov 14: Five security personnel were killed and six others injured when militants first attacked a check-post and later an FC convoy in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency on Monday, official sources said.
The FC men led by Lt-Col Azhar Amin had gone to Nala in Malikdin Khel area to shift the body of Latif Khan who was killed when militants had attacked a check-post in the morning. As the FC convoy was carrying the body militants ambushed it, killing four security men identified as Ibrahim, Majeed, Waseem and Salman...

K. Pakhtunkhwa decides against five-day week

PESHAWAR, Nov 14: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has opposed the federal government's decision about two holidays a week and said it would not implement the decision unless the Council of Common Interests endorses it by majority.
Information Minister Mian iftikhar Hussain said at a press conference that the provincial cabinet reconsidered the matter at a meeting on Monday and decided to continue observing one weekly off. NAB chief orders probe into railways scams

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14: Acting upon an order of the Supreme Court to investigate reasons for Pakistan Railways' downslide, National Accountability Bureau Chairman Admiral (retd) Fasih Bokhari ordered on Monday an inquiry against PR officials allegedly involved in corruption scandals—misappropriation, embezzlement and misuse of authority.
A NAB spokesman said a team had been formed to conduct the inquiry which would determine the amount of money embezzled and the extent of responsibility of railway officials and others...
