Gilani rules out 'viceroy security'

LAHORE, Jan 22: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that American businessman Mansoor Ijaz has been spitting venom against Pakistan, its establishment and governments for a long time.

FoDP task force gives top priority to Bhasha dam

ISLAMABAD, Jan 22: The Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) has prioritised $28.2 billion water and hydropower projects to be completed by 2020 and decided to follow the guidelines and safeguards set by the Asian Development Bank for providing funds and technical assistance.

This is the crux of the final report of FoDP's water sector task force after including suggestions of the stakeholders. The report completed in about a year is scheduled to be launched on Feb 20...

Major gas pipeline blown up

Pakistan govt will overcome crisis: India

BANGALORE, Jan 22: India's External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna said on Sunday that developments in Pakistan were of 'deep concern' from the point of stability in South Asia.

Grant of Motorway project to Malaysian firm: EOBI accuses NHA of foul play in award of contract

ISLAMABAD, Jan 22: The Employees Old-age Benefit Institution (EOBI) has accused the National Highway Authority of foul play in the award of the Rs24.93 billion Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway construction contract to a Malaysian company, saying the NHA ignored the lowest bid offered by it.

A top EOBI official told Dawn on Sunday that his organisation had offered to build the project of international standard at a cost of Rs18 billion – Rs6 billion less than what had been offered by the Malaysian company – but "our bid was not even opened because we could not pay kickbacks"...
