12-year-old lands first 1080 on skateboard

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>12-year-old Tom Schaar landed the first 1080 move on a skateboard last week at the enormous MegaRamp in California. </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Many stars of the skateboarding world have tried to do three complete revolutions in the air and then land it but none had been successful until Schaar pulled it off on his fifth try.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Schaar had been skateboarding for eight years but first tried the MegaRamp last year and learned how to skate on the 70 foot (21.3 metres) tall ramp that launches skaters up to 15 feet (4.5m) in the air before trying the 1080 last Monday.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Karachi violence claims one more life

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The recent wave of violence continues in Karachi and one more person was shot dead while two others sustained injury.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to details, a youth was shot dead by some unidentified persons in Badr Chowk area of Mominabad in Karachi while two people were injured in firing incident in Quaidabad area.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Meanwhile, police have cordoned off different streets in Qasba Colony, Bukhari Colony and MPR colony and conducted search in specific houses. Arms were also recovered from the arrested persons.<br />&nbsp;</p>


London: Pak High commission holds reception for Shermeen

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Speaking on the occasion, the Oscar award winner Pakistani film director Shermeen Obaid Chinoy said that a social evil has been highlighted in her movie &lsquo;&rsquo;Saving Face&rsquo;.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>She said that the issue raided in the movie is global. Shermeen said that she wanted an end to acid throwing incidents against women.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The crew members of the &lsquo;Saving Face&rsquo; were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan&rsquo;s High Commissioner in London, Wajid Shamsuddin , congratulated Shermeen and other crew members for winning the Oscar award. <br />&nbsp;</p>


Man sells daughter for expenses brothers marriage

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to dtails, Nisar&rsquo;s brother Munir Ahmad a resident of village Ramazan Babro near Khanpur Mehr needed one hundred thousand rupees for his marriage. Nisar sold his two-year-old daughter Rozeena to local landlord Naik Muhammad to obtain the said amount.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Mother of Rozeena reached police station along with her daughter to get protection. Police have registered a case of kidnapping against Naik Muhammad and handed the minor girl to her grandfather while accused Nisar managed to escape. <br />&nbsp;</p>


Man tries to end his life after being declared dacoit

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to details, Jan Muhammad alias Jano Chandio tried to commit suicide as he shot himself near Katiyan Railway Station area after Hyderabad police had wrongly implicated him 18 cases of robberies and fixed five hundred thousand rupees as his head money.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Jan Muhammad was rushed to Jam Taluka Hospital from where police arrested him and shifted him to the Civil Hospital, Hyderabad where his condition is stated to be critical. The female heirs of Jan Muhammad staged a protest against police at the Civil Hospital, Hyderabad for wrongly implicating him is robbery cases and also raised slogans against them. The protesters also beat up police officials and pelted stone at the police vans. The police party fled from the premises of the hospital.<br />&nbsp;</p>

The armed heirs of the girl reached the house of Jan Muhammad and asked him to declare his daughter Tahira wani otherwise the entire family will be killed.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Jan Muhammad declared her 15-year-old daughter Tahira Bibi wani and his son Ahsan&rsquo;s brother-in-law forcibly married Tahira.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Tahira manged to escape and reached her parents house. She alleged that she was forced to marry and was gang raped by her &lsquo;husband&rsquo; and many other people. <br />&nbsp;</p>


Pak Jr snooker team leave for India

The team comprises of Hasnain from Sialkot who is also Pankistn Jr No 1 and Muhammad Majid Ali of Lahore who is No 2 ranked Pakistan players.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Both the cueists are participating in any international event for the first time. 13th U-21 Asian Snooker Championship will be played in Goa, India from April 2 to April 9.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Oil prices dip in world markets

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The prices at the New York Mercantile Exchange were recorded at $102 per barrel after a fall of $2.50 while the future buying in London were recorded at $122 per barrel.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The prices of Arab light came down to $121.84 which was $125 per barrel on March 1. The analysts are of the view that the current drop in oil prices is due to increase in supply from reserves by the key players.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Petrol, CNG go royal as prices ramped up yet again

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to OGRA notification, the new rate of petrol has been set at Rs 105.68 per litre, making the life even difficult for the commoners as now the prices of transportation and all other prices would jump up in the domino effect.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Hi-Octane price has been ramped up by Rs 8.94 per litre. Its new price is Rs 135.81/litre.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Kerosine oil price has been increased by Rs 5.29 to Rs 101.69 per litre.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Hi speed diesel price has been increased by Rs 4.70 to Rs 108.16 per litre, while the rate of light diesel has been increased by Rs 5.45 per litre.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The CNG prices in the Region-1 (KPK, Potohar region and Balochistan) has been increased by Rs 11.58 per kg owing to which new CNG price in region-1 will be at Rs 88.70 per kg. However, the government has increased CNG in region-II (Sindh and Punjab) by Rs 9.93 per kg to Rs 80.89 per kg.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>


Gilani arrives in China to attend Boao moot

Memo commission to meet on April 5th

Bid to foil Syrian govt has foiled

Hundreds of tourists on ship adrift off Philippines

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The fire in engine room late Friday had been contained but it left the Azamara Quest without propulsion in calm waters in the Sulu Sea, the cruiseliner said.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>As a precaution, the captain had initially asked all passengers to prepare to leave the ship, but an evacuation was not necessary in the end, Azamara Club Cruises said on its website.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&quot;There were no injuries of guests reported and the atmosphere aboard is calm,&quot; it added.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The crew later restored power to one of the ship&nbsp;s engines, allowing the vessel to resume air conditioning, running water, plumbing and refrigeration.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Both the liner and the Philippine Coast Guard said the blaze caused smoke-related injuries to five crew members who were treated on board.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Philippine Coast Guard spokesman Algier Ricafrente told AFP the vessel was carrying 590 mostly American and European passengers and was manned with a 411-member crew.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Coast guard Ensign June Greanata told AFP by telephone from Puerto Princesa, the nearest Philippine port, that a Philippine Navy vessel had been sent to help the stricken vessel.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Doctors had decided none of the five injured crew needed to be airlifted to hospital on land, she added.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The nationalities of the injured crew members were not disclosed, although the Philippine transportation department said it was aware about 120 of them are Filipinos.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Calls by AFP to the cruiseliner&nbsp;s Asia offices in Singapore were not returned.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The Malta-flagged liner, described on its website as a 30,277-tonne vessel, said that due to the fire it would abort the voyage when it reaches the Malaysian port of Sandakan in Borneo.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&quot;Engineers onboard Azamara Quest continue to work on restoring propulsion to the ship. Once they have restored the ship&nbsp;s propulsion, Azamara Quest will sail directly to Sandakan,&quot; it added.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The coast guard spokeswoman said its operators, Florida-based Royal Caribbean Cruises, also dispatched a salvage vessel to tow the stricken ship should its onboard engineers fail to get it up and running again.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&quot;It&nbsp;s still dead on the water near the Tubbataha Reefs,&quot; Greanata said.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>One option would be to tow the ship to the central Philippine port of Cebu for repairs, she added.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The vessel left Hong Kong on Monday for a 17-night voyage.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>It left Manila, its first port call, on Wednesday and had also been due to make port calls on Balikpapan, Palapo, Benoa Bali, Semarang and Komodo in Indonesia before sailing to Singapore.--AFP<br />&nbsp;</p>
