9th strike in Karachi leaves three dead: Twin blasts rock MQM stronghold By Our Staff Reporter KARACHI, May 4: Twin bomb blasts outside an election office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, just yards from its headquarters in Azizabad, killed three people and left more than 30 injured on Saturday. This was the ninth in a series of attacks on electioneering in Karachi since April 23 that have mainly targeted the MQM and the Awami National Party.

Remand extended for two weeks: Musharraf to be tried in farmhouse sub-jail By Our Staff Reporter ISLAMABAD, May 4: The Islamabad High Court on Saturday gave the go-ahead for conducting the trial of former president retired General Pervez Musharraf at his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad near Islamabad. The farmhouse has already been declared a sub-jail. The approval came shortly after the judge of an anti-terrorism court (ATC) expressed his inability to carry out the trial in the sub-jail without an order from the High Court.
Pakistan HC team visits ‘critically’ hurt Sanaullah NEW DELHI, May 4: Pakistan High Commission officials visited a hospital in north India on Saturday where a Pakistani prisoner was in critical condition in the intensive care unit after being attacked by an Indian inmate. Convicted murderer Sanaullah Haq suffered multiple head injuries in a prison in India-held Kashmir in an apparent tit-for-tat attack after an Indian prisoner, Sarabjit Singh, was fatally assaulted in Pakistan.
JI strikes deals with JUI-F in Karachi By Our Staff Reporter KARACHI, May 4: The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl JUI-F) have reached an agreement on seat adjustment for one constituency of National Assembly and three of Sindh Assembly in Karachi. Mohammad Hussain Mehanti, the chief of JI’s Karachi chapter, made the disclosure at a press conference at JUI-F office on Saturday.

Khurshid recalls ‘achievements of PPP-led govt’ By Waseem Shamsi SUKKUR, May 4: PPP candidate for NA-199 Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah told an election meeting on Saturday that those claiming to end electricity loadshedding after coming to power were perhaps thinking of banking on plants set up by the PPP-led government which would start producing electricity in 2015. Despite tremendous pressure and threats from foreign countries, he said, the former government had signed an agreement with Iran for a gas pipeline project which, after completion, would help in overcoming the country’s energy crisis.
