At least another 26 people lost their lives in rain-related incidents in parts of Balochistan, Karachi and Rajanpur district of Punjab with rescue efforts failing to cope with the situation which worsened by the hour. | ||||||
Timely sharing of flood information urgedBy Khaleeq KianiISLAMABAD, Aug 4: After torrential rains in most parts of the country, medium to high flood situation has developed at Chashma barrage because of surging upstream hill torrents and tributaries of River Kabul and Chashma barrage. Flash floods kill 58 in AfghanistanKABUL, Aug 4: Heavy rains swept across eastern Afghanistan, levelling homes and killing at least 58 people in five provinces, while an estimated 30 others remained missing, officials said on Sunday. Provincial spokesmen in Nangarhar, Kabul, Khost, Laghman and Nuristan said the floods struck early on Saturday. Flash floods are common in those provinces and all are fed by rivers that eventually intersect in Nangarhar. | ||||||
