Govt vows to review options after TTP assault Raja Asghar ISLAMABAD: Describing Pakistan as being in a ‘war zone’, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan promised in the National Assembly on Tuesday that there would be a review of security options and a ‘reaction’ to Sunday night’s deadly terrorist attack at Karachi airport. Briefing the house about what he called ‘raw courage’ shown by security personnel in their battle with heavily armed militants, in which 29 people were killed from both sides, he also called for patience and a united struggle to face a ‘serious security situation’ facing the country.
Panic at airport as ASF facility comes under fire Bhagwandas KARACHI: With the authorities struggling to cope with security challenges in the aftermath of Sunday’s attack on Karachi airport’s Terminal One, suspected militants launched another attack on an Airport Security Force’s facility on Tuesday, forcing the Civil Aviation Authority to suspend flight operations at the country’s busiest airport for a brief period. There were no causalities in the latest attack, whose responsibility was also claimed by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

Sharif seeks clear roadmap for privatisation of Discos, Gencos Amin Ahmed ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed the chairman of the Privatisation Commission to provide a clear roadmap and precise timetable for the privatisation of Discos (power distribution companies) and Gencos (power generation companies). At a meeting held here on Tuesday, the prime minister asked the chairman to come up with a plan at the next meeting so that the entire process of the privatisation of Discos and Gencos could be completed by June 30 next year.
Russia to sell MI-35 helicopters to Pakistan The Newspaper's Staff Reporter ISLAMABAD: Russia said on Tuesday that it was willing to sell MI-35 helicopters to Pakistan. “Pakistan has expressed its interest in buying MI-35 helicopters and we have shown our willingness to provide them,” Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexey Dedov told a news conference at the embassy.
