Zardari backs demand for vote recount on four seats Syed Irfan Raza ISLAMABAD: In a development which may add to the pressure on the PML-N government, former president Asif Ali Zardari supported on Tuesday PTI�s demand for recounting of votes in four constituencies of Punjab and said there was no harm in doing it. �Heavens will not fall if the demand is accepted,� PPP spokesman Senator Farhatullah Babar quoted Mr Zardari as saying in a statement.
Imran wants complete audit of general election results The Newspaper's Staff Reporter ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has called for a complete �audit� of results of the general elections held in May last year. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, he said: �Time for recounting of votes of four constituencies is over. Now the PTI demands a complete audit of the poll results as is being done in Afghanistan.�
Key Taliban leader Adnan Rashid reportedly held Sailab Mehsud LADHA: Adnan Rashid, a fugitive of the Air Force (PAF), is reported to have been captured, along with three others, from Shakai area of South Waziristan Agency. Military and intelligence sources, however, denied the reports about his capture. Sources in the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan also expressed their ignorance about the detention of Adnan Rashid, a high-profile commander who was on death row on charges of an attempt on the life of former president retired Gen Pervez Musharraf.
Troops gain control of Miramshah, enter Mirali Intikhab Hanif LAHORE: After gaining full control of Miramshah, army troops entered Mirali, the second largest town of North Waziristan, on Monday night and killed six terrorists, including an important Taliban leader Matiullah. This was announced on Tuesday by ISPR Director General Maj Gen Asim Salim Bajwa in a media briefing in Lahore on the Zarb-i-Azb operation.
