The Gujranwala Anti-Terrorism Court handed over accused Ghulam Mustafa to police on a 10-day physical remand.
India and Pakistan exchange doubts on terror trials Dawn Report NEW DELHI/ISLAM�ABAD: India and Pakistan traded doubts on Friday over the delay in two terror trials � the Mumbai nightmare trial that New Delhi wants to be hastened, and the Samjhauta Express bombing, which Pakistan believes has taken too long a time in the trial stage. In a briefing to The Hindu, a Pakistan high commission spokesman said the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks trial was a judicial matter and there was nothing the government could do over the adjournment of the trial.
Massive power outage torments Karachiites The Newspaper's Staff Reporter KARACHI: A major power breakdown hit the provincial metropolis in the early hours of Friday and lasted till the evening, as the K-Electric failed to cope with the situation timely. Although the K-Electric claimed that the tripping of 500kV National Transmis�sion Dispatch Company (NTDC) circuit caused the city-wide breakdown, it failed to explain as to why it took more than 12 hours to restore the supply.
Army to be summoned for capital�s security Iftikhar A. Khan ISLAMABAD: Seemingly panicked in the face of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf�s (PTI) upcoming long march on Independence Day, the PML-N government on Friday announced it was summoning the army to aid civilian law-enforcement agencies in securing the capital over the next three months. Talking to reporters, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that a notification to requisition the services of the armed forces under Article 245 of the Constitution had been issued on Thursday.
�Islamists planning attack in West have left Syria� Reuters OSLO: A group of militant Islamists planning to carry out attacks in the West is on its way from Syria, possibly heading towards Norway, police said on Friday. Norwegian armed police were deployed for a second day at high-risk locations including airports and train stations, after the police�s intelligence unit said on Thursday it received credible information that an attack might take place in the country in coming days.
Wapda wants quick start to stage II of Dasu project Khalid Hasnain LAHORE: The Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has requested the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms (MoPDR) to allow it to start work on second stage of the 4,320MW Dasu Hydropower Project, in parallel with its stage I. Wapda has also sought to take up with the Planning Commission proposals to amend or revise the PC-1, Dawn has learnt.
