Football: Germany beat Algeria to reach World Cup quarter-finals

Posted:

PORTO ALEGRE (AFP) - Extra-time goals by substitute Andre Schuerrle and Mesut Ozil sealed Germany's 2-1 win over Algeria in Monday's last 16 clash and put the three-time winners into the World Cup quarter-finals.The victory at Porto Alegre's Beira-Rio Stadium was Germany's first over Algeria at the third attempt, but this was a far from impressive display by the Germans over 120 minutes.Schuerrle's deft flick on 92 minutes, then Ozil's 119th-minute tap-in was enough to put Joachim Loew's Germany into Friday's quarter-final at Rio de Janeiro's iconic Maracana stadium against France.Algeria grabbed a deserved consolation for a battling display just before the final whistle as replacement Abdelmoumene Djabou claimed his second World Cup goal. The stats show Germany had more than three times as many shots on goal as Algeria and their lack of finishing will be a concern for Loew.Much of the pre-match talk had been of Algerian revenge more than three decades after the 'Shame of Gijon' when Germany's mutually beneficial 1-0 win over Austria sent Algeria home from the 1982 World Cup.But Germany progress to the last eight at the expense of the north Africans, who had reached the last 16 of a World Cup for the first time.Schuerrle's opening goal was just reward for a battling display as he created a string of chances after replacing the ineffective Mario Goetze at the break.A blocked Goetze shot and a Thomas Mueller header were all Germany had to show for an opening 45 minutes which allowed Algeria to grow in confidence.Sampdoria's Shkrodan Mustafi, who later limped out with a second-half hamstring injury, was a late call-up before kick-off at right-back in a reshuffled defence as flu-victim Mats Hummels dropped out.Algeria had by far the better of the opening exchanges and forward Islam Slimani had the ball in the German net on 16 minutes, but was flagged for offside.Schuerrle made the difference after the break as left-back Benedikt Hoewedes headed straight at M'Bolhi, while Germany captain Philipp Lahm fired wide with a long-range effort on 54 minutes.Mustafi's injury brought Real Madrid's defensive midfielder Sami Khedira off the bench for the last 20 minutes as Lahm slotted into right-back.Algeria kept pushing forward, but only a crucial M'Bolhi save denied Mueller with a bullet-header on 80 minutes before he hit the side netting moments later.Extra-time had barely begun when Mueller fired in a cross which Schuerrle deflected into the back of the net with a deft flick to spare German blushes.Algeria kept up the fight and Mostefa was left with his head in his hands when he fired wide just before the end of the first period of extra time.Ozil looked to have killed off Algeria's hopes when he added the Germans' second just before the final whistle after an exchange of passes with the impressive Schuerrle. But there was still enough time for Djabou to blast home a thunderbolt of a shot to spark faint hope before the referee ended Algeria's quarter-final dreams.

Football: France into last eight as Nigeria downed

Posted:

BRASILIA (AFP) - France qualified for the World Cup quarter-finals here Monday after a late Paul Pogba header and a Joseph Yobo own goal clinched a 2-0 victory over Nigeria.Juventus star Pogba made the key breakthrough for France 11 minutes from time, punishing a rare mistake by Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama. In the closing minutes, a low cross from Mathieu Valbuena was turned in by Yobo as he came under pressure from Antoine Griezmann. The victory ended Nigeria's dream of reaching the quarter-finals for the first time and put France into a last eight meeting with either Germany or Algeria. The defeat was hard on France-based Nigeria keeper Enyeama, who had kept Les Bleus at bay with a series of fine saves. But the win was no less than Didier Deschamps's' France deserved after dominating the contest and enjoying the better of the chances throughout.Deliverance came late, but all the matches at this World Cup are difficult, said Deschamps. We're among the best eight teams in the world who remain. We won't go on about it, but we should savour it and in four days, we'll go again.Disappointed Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi lashed the performance of American referee Mark Geiger. The referee is a human being and is bound to make mistakes, but a lot of mistakes is questionable, Keshi said.France will face the winner of Monday's other game, between Algeria and Germany, in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.Germany have played Algeria twice -- at the World Cup in 1982 and in a 1964 friendly -- and lost both games, but it is Vahid Halilhodzic's Algeria who have revenge on their mind.According to coach Vahid Halilhodzic, the Desert Foxes have not forgotten 1982; when West Germany lost 2-1 to Algeria and then played out a 1-0 win over Austria that ensured the European neighbours qualified for the second round. The game has gone down in football history as The Shame of Gijon, after the Spanish city where it was played.Germany coach Joachim Loew rejects talk of revenge as barely anyone in the German squad was even born when the shame game was played. Anyone who thinks that an easy opponent is waiting for us in the next round is making an enormous mistake, said Loew after Germany finished as Group G winners.Team captain Philipp Lahm has also said Germany must prove on the field that they are worthy of the reputation of being Europe's best hope at the World Cup.We have had great teams in the past and this squad has great potential, but we have to take it a round at a time and play aggressively, he said.Off the pitch on Monday, Uruguay's disgraced striker Luis Suarez loomed back into view after being kicked out of the tournament last week for biting Italy defender Giorgio ChielliniAfter vehement public denials of wrongdoing, and claiming to FIFA disciplinary chiefs the incident was an accident, Suarez issued a carefully worded statement of apology on Twitter. I apologise to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family, Suarez said, acknowledging for the first time that there was a bite.I vow to the public there will never again be another incident like it, he added.Arjen Robben caused a storm when he told Dutch television he dived during the controversial 2-1 win over Mexico on Sunday -- but not for the penalty awarded in time added on.However, the Dutch football federation issued a strongly-worded statement saying the media had mis-interpreted Robben and the Bayern Munich star had said he had fallen too easily and not dived.FIFA also said they would not be taking any action.

Football: Suarez apologises for World Cup bite

Posted:

MONTEVIDEO (AFP) - Disgraced Uruguay striker Luis Suarez apologised Monday to Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini for the bite that saw him banned for four months and expelled from the World Cup.Suarez acknowledged for the first time that the Italian was bitten. I deeply regret what occurred, said the 27-year-old Liverpool striker.I apologise to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family, said a statement on Suarez's official Twitter account.I vow to the public there will never again be another incident like it, he added.Chiellini reacted quickly to Suarez's apology. It's all forgotten. I hope FIFA will reduce your suspension, he tweeted.Suarez bit Chiellini during Uruguay's 1-0 win over Italy on June 24 which took the South Americans into the World Cup last 16. They were beaten by Colombia on Sunday. The prolific striker initially denied the charges against him. He told a FIFA disciplinary commission that he had lost his balance and there was no bite. But within 48 hours of the incident, Suarez was handed a four month ban from all football activities, suspended from nine internationals and fined 100,000 Swiss francs ($112,000). It was the third time in his career he had been guilty of biting an opponent. He returned on Friday to Uruguay where the sanction has caused national outrage. President Jose Mujica slammed FIFA leaders as sons of bitches for imposing the sanction. But Suarez said: After several days of being home with my family, I have had the opportunity to regain my calm and reflect about the reality of what occurred during the Italy-Uruguay match on June 24, 2014.He said there had been contradicting declarations of the events but that he had no intention of interfering with the good performance of my national team. The truth is that my colleague Giorgio Chiellini suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me. For this:I deeply regret what occurred.I apologize to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family.I vow to the public that there will never again be another incident like.Despite Suarez's denials, the disciplinary commission gave a damning assessment of Suarez's actions in its final report, which was leaked to various media. It said the offence was carried out directly against an opposing player, while the ball was not being disputed, and it was done deliberately, intentionally and without provocation. The apology came amid reports that Spanish club Barcelona are to bid for Suarez.Alejandro Balbi, a lawyer for the player went to Barcelona the day after the bite and media reports said the club had a role in Suarez's act of contrition.I hear that Barca insisted on apology if transfer is to proceed, Gary Lineker, the former Barcelona and England player who is now the BBC's chief football presenter, said on his Twitter account.Several football leaders inside and outside FIFA have said that Suarez -- one of the best strikers in the world but also one of the most temperamental -- should seek counselling.FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke said at the World Cup that Suarez had to find a way to stop doing it. He should go through a treatment. It is definitely wrong. The international professional footballer's union FIFPro said FIFA should have made mandatory treatment part of its sanction. Many have pointed to Suarez's past offences however. He served a seven-game ban for biting a player in November 2010 when he was with Dutch side Ajax and a 10 game suspension after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic while playing for Liverpool in April 2013.Suarez also hurled racial abuse at Manchester United's Patrice Evra during a Premier League game in October 2011 and was banned for eight matches. At the 2010 World Cup he caused a storm of controversy by stopping a certain winning goal by Ghana on the goalline with his hand. Uruguay went on to win a penalty shootout.Since the latest furore, Suarez has lost a sponsorship deal with a gambling website and Adidas, the sports equipment giant, said it would not use any Suarez adverts during the World Cup.But media reports say that aside from Barcelona their bitter rivals Real Madrid are also interested in buying the player from Liverpool.

Djokovic beats Tsonga to reach quarter-finals

Posted:

LONDON (AP) - Novak Djokovics sore left arm prompted a grimace on Monday. It was a minor blip on the way to another victory at Wimbledon. The top-seeded Serbian beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for the 11th straight time to advance to the quarterfinals at the All England Club with a 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (5) victory. His left arm bothered him in the tiebreak when Tsonga hit the net cord to move up 3-2. The right-handed Djokovic, who uses his left hand on his two-handed backhand, did not chase the shot, instead grabbing the upper left arm he landed on in his prior match. The pain did not last long and Djokovic finished strongly, hitting a cross-court backhand service return on the first match point. He received treatment on his arm after the match but said he felt fine.So its still a bit sore because of the fall that I had a few days ago, but, you know, there is no damage, which is important, said Djokovic, who has dropped one set so far in the tournament. Its normal to have a bit of soreness in the muscle and around the joint. But thankfully I have a flexible shoulder, and it helps in these particular situations.Djokovics shot on match point was called out but he challenged and the replay showed the ball landed on the line.He then celebrated fiercely, holding out his arms in a look-at-me pose.Im just glad that I didnt allow him to go into the fourth set, because he started to use obviously the crowd support, Djokovic said. It was very important for me to get this done in straight sets.Djokovic, the 2011 champion who lost in last years final to Andy Murray, broke the 14th-seeded Frenchman twice and saved both break points he faced. He next plays his good friend Marin Cilic of Croatia. The match was played under the roof on Centre Court and Djokovic, whose schedule has not been turned upside down by the recent rain, said he understood why Australian champion Stan Wawrinka complained after his third-round match was put off from Saturday to Monday. There is generally no play at Wimbledon on the middle Sunday.Wawrinka advanced to the fourth round on Monday but noted he would have to win five matches in a week if hes going to win the tournament.I understand why Wawrinka was complaining, because we have this tradition here of the middle Sunday. ... We have to rethink (that), Djokovic said. We all know that tradition is something that is nurtured here ... and we respect that. But there are some rules that I believe should be updated.

Tennis: Murray made to work for Wimbledon last eight spot

Posted:

LONDON (AFP) - Defending champion Andy Murray was made to work for his place in the Wimbledon quarter-finals despite a straight sets win over Kevin Anderson on Monday. The British third seed was tested by the big-serving South African, on a career-high ranking of 18, but ultimately triumphed 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (8/6) in a match on Centre Court completed under the roof.Murray mastered what 20th seed Anderson threw his way and in his four matches at the All England Club has yet to concede a set and has dropped only 32 games. He next faces Bulgarian 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov on Wednesday for a place in the semi-finals.I knew I was going to get tested at some stage, Murray said.I was pushed, especially in the middle part of that second set, then obviously later on in the third there were some tight moments. But I handled them fairly well. It was a good match. When it was outdoors, I played very well and was in a good position. When we came back indoors, he started to strike the ball a bit better, he started serving better. It's good to get through in straight sets.He added: I feel good. I haven't played too many long matches. This was the longest I played.I've been moving well. And mentally I haven't had to use loads of energy yet. But I'm aware that's going to come. It's been a good start to the tournament.Murray leads his next opponent, the up-and-coming Dimitrov, 3-1 in career meetings. All the matches are tough, everyone in the quarter-finals of the slams is playing top tennis, the 27-year-old said.I have to concentrate on my side of the court and if I play well, I will make it tough. It is the seventh straight year that Murray has reached the quarter-finals and victory takes his winning streak at the All England Club to 17 matches, dating back to his gold-winning London 2012 Olympics campaign.Murray, who became the first British man to win the Wimbledon singles in 77 years, has top seed Novak Djokovic, last year's beaten finalist, in his half of the draw as a potential semi-final opponent.Besides his usual preparations, Anderson had warmed up for the match by enjoying a braai, a traditional South African barbecue, and by teaching himself some guitar. But it was Murray ultimately calling the tune on Centre Court. After the roof came on part-way through the second set, Anderson returned to the court in dogged form and took the third set to a tie-break.The South African fashioned a set point in the breaker, but Murray dug in and sealed the match. The match was watched by British royalty, former Manchester United football manager Alex Ferguson, Virgin tycoon Richard Branson and 1970s Grand Slam winner Ilie Nastase in his striking Romanian army uniform.

Tennis: Makarova sends Radwanska crashing out

Posted:

LONDON (AFP) - Ekaterina Makarova enjoyed a surprise 6-3, 6-0 victory over former Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwanska as the Russian 22nd seed reached the quarter-finals at the All England club for the first time on Monday.Makarova had never been past the third round in her six previous appearances at Wimbledon, while Polish fourth seed Radwanska made the final in 2012, losing to Serena Williams, and then the last four 12 months agoBut the 26-year-old, a quarter-finalist at the Australian and French Opens last year, destroyed the world number four on Court Three and will play Czech 23rd seed Lucie Safarova for a place in the semi-finals.Radwanska's exit means three of the top four seeds have been eliminated from the women's draw.

Oil prices ease; rebels hit Colombian production

Posted:

NEW YORK (AFP) - Global oil prices slipped Monday amid new signs of higher OPEC production but the market was still cautious amid ongoing Iraq violence and a rebel attack on a Colombian pipeline.US benchmark West Texas Intermediate for August delivery dipped 37 cents to $105.37 a barrel, with losses capped partly by stubborn Iraq concerns. In London deals, Brent crude for delivery in August sank 94 cents to $112.36 a barrel from Friday's close.Ongoing tensions in Iraq kept a floor on selling despite some weak US economic data last week, analysts said.Crude is under pressure from disappointing US data last week as well as little new developments in Iraq, VTB Capital analyst Andrey Kryuchenkov told AFP on Monday. But Tim Evans of Citi Futures said that indications that OPEC production had risen some 278,000 barrels per day (bpd) during June to counter worries about possible attacks on Iraq's oil facilities were likely a factor driving sellers. The increase may have also reflected some anticipation that the call on OPEC crude oil will be stronger seasonally during the third quarter, he said.Libyan oil production has also reportedly increased to 320,000 bpd from somewhat less than 300,000 bpd last week, with some indications that eastern rebels may be willing to give a new parliament a chance.Colombia meanwhile said Monday that the country's oil production would be hurt following an attack against a pipeline that left 13 people wounded. The army blamed leftist National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrillas for the attack on a facility along the 780-kilometer (485-mile) Cano Limon-Covenas oil pipeline, one of the country's main oil conduits.Pipeline operations were subsequently suspended for security reasons. We hope that they will be reactivated as soon as possible, Mining Minister Amylkar Acosta told Radio Caracol.Meanwhile, we'll obviously see national production of crude oil and its transport affected.

Dollar weakens after lackluster US economic data

Posted:

NEW YORK (AFP) - The dollar fell against other major currencies Monday after lackluster US economic data provided no spur for buying greenbacks.A better-than-expected surge in US pending home sales in May, by 6.1 percent, was offset by a slowdown in economic activity in the Chicago region, putting an end to two months of gains. It has been a tough month for the US dollar. The greenback lost value against all of the major currencies and on the last day of the quarter, extended its losses, said Kathy Lien of BK Asset Management.Lien said that a lack of consistently positive US data has left investors with little reason to buy the greenback. The euro hit $1.3698 in late morning, its highest level in more than five weeks, before easing back to $1.3694 in late trade. The dollar sank as low as 101.21 yen around the same time, also a level last seen more than five weeks ago. The main pressure on the dollar comes from the decline in US yields, she said. In late trade, the 10-year Treasury yield was down to 2.52 percent from 2.53 percent late Friday. Bond yields and prices move inversely.Weak inflation data for the 18-nation eurozone added to fears the bloc could slide into deflation. The European Union's statistics office Eurostat said in a first estimate that eurozone inflation was 0.5 percent in June -- the same level as in May.That marked the lowest inflation level since the financial crisis of 2008-2009 nearly froze the market on which banks lend to each other and caused recession in several advanced economies. The European Central Bank is so concerned that prices could start falling it has cut its interest rates into negative territory in the hope of boosting lending and pushing inflation back to the bank's target of nearly 2.0 percent.June's weak eurozone inflation figure will add to pressure on the ECB to provide more policy support, particularly given recent signs that the recovery may already be slowing, said Capital Economics senior economist Jennifer McKeown. But analysts said the ECB was unlikely to make new policy moves at its monthly meeting Thursday, focusing instead on monitoring the impact of last month's unprecedented package of measures.

Up to 88 percent of ocean surfaces sullied by plastic: study

Posted:

WASHINGTON (AFP) - As much as 88 percent of the open oceans surface contains plastic debris, raising concern about the effect on marine life and the food chain, scientists said Monday.Mass-produced plastics from toys, bags, food containers and utensils make their way into the oceans through storm water runoff, a problem that is only expected to get worse in the coming decades. The findings in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences are based on more than 3,000 ocean samples collected around the world by a Spanish science expedition in 2010.Ocean currents carry plastic objects which split into smaller and smaller fragments due to solar radiation, said lead researcher Andres Cozar from the University of Cadiz. Those little pieces of plastic, known as microplastics, can last hundreds of years and were detected in 88 percent of the ocean surface sampled during the Malaspina Expedition 2010.The study projected that the total amount of plastics in the worlds oceans -- between 10,000 and 40,000 tons -- is actually lower than prior estimates. However, it raised new concerns about the fate of so much plastic, particularly the smallest pieces. The study found that plastic fragments between a few microns and a few milimeters in size are underrepresented in the ocean surface samples.More research is needed to find out where these are going and what effects they are having on the worlds marine life. These micro plastics have an influence on the behavior and the food chain of marine organisms, said Cozar. But probably, most of the impacts taking place due to plastic pollution in the oceans are not yet known.

Pakistan to earn $450m in next 8 years: PCB

Posted:

LAHORE (AFP) - Pakistan's cricket chief on Monday claimed his country will earn $450 million in the next eight years, mainly from hosting four series to be played with arch-rivals India.India and Pakistan signed an agreement to play a total of six series -- the other two will be hosted by India -- on the sidelines of an International Cricket Council (ICC) annual conference in Melbourne last week. The potential windfall for Pakistan was made possible after they conditionally agreed to approve an ICC revamp that gives major powers to cricket's Big Three: India; Australia and England. The shakeup, which Pakistan initially opposed, was formally endorsed at the meeting in Melbourne. We would have been left isolated and gone bankrupt in two years had we not approved the revamp, Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi told media on return from Australia. We get the most revenues when we play with India and if all goes well we are set to earn $300 million from the four series we host against India, he said.Sethi added Pakistan had bolstered its position in the ICC after he was elected to the body's five-member executive committee at the conference, which he believed would earn his country the remainder.Pakistan have been included in the executive committee of the ICC for one year, with India, Australia and England as the permanent members, which means we will be at the forefront of most of the decisions, said Sethi.I can say with confidence that in the next eight year cycle we will get $150 million from the ICC, he said, bringing total takings to $450 million. This compares to Pakistan receiving $10 million per year from the ICC in the last seven years, Sethi added. The first of the series with India is scheduled for December next year, to be hosted by Pakistan but likely played in the United Arab Emirates for security reasons. The agreement is now on paper and I hope that the day will also come when PMs (prime ministers) of both the countries clear it, then the two countries will also play in Pakistan. But at the moment it is not possible, Sethi added.International cricket in Pakistan has been suspended since March 2009 when militants attacked the Sri Lankan team bus, leaving eight people dead and seven visiting players injured. But Sethi said there would be no compensation if India does not play due to non-clearance from New Delhi. There was no compensation before, there is none now. This is not the norm in mutual series when government does not give permission.Sethi also said banned paceman Mohammad Aamer will be able to play domestic cricket before his worldwide ban expires in August next year. The ICC committee will finalise changes in the anti-corruption code in October this year after which the PCB will submit an application on relaxing the ban on Aamer and in the last year of his ban Aamer will be able to play domestic cricket to get ready for the international matches, said Sethi.Aamer was banned for five years on charges of spot-fixing during the Lord's Test against England in 2010. Then-Pakistan Test captain Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif were also banned for a minimum of five years in the same case.

New Zealand beat West Indies for series win

Posted:

BRIDGETOWN (AFP) - New Zealands perseverance with their frontline bowlers paid off eventually as the visitors completed a 53-run victory over the West Indies in the last hour of the third and final Test match at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Monday.Despite being held up by a 77-run eighth-wicket partnership between debutant Jason Holder and Shane Shillingford, the Black Caps finished off the job with Trent Boult, who did the early damage in the morning, returning with the second new ball to trap last man Jerome Taylor leg-before and dismiss the home side for 254.Boult, fellow-seamer Tim Southee and off-spinner Mark Craig took three wickets each to lead the New Zealand effort which gave them the match and the series 2-1, only their second Test win at Kensington Oval and second Test series triumph in the Caribbean. Were really thrilled with pulling off this series win, said New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum at the end of the match. It was tough cricket all the way through so well enjoy this moment.New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson, who scored 161 not out in the second innings, took the honours as Man of the Match and Man of the Series.Holder, who topscored with 52, and Shillingford (30 not out), gave the West Indies a slim hope of saving the match as they defied the opposition for almost two hours in a 77-run stand. Before their intervention, all seemed set for a swift finish when the regional side slumped to 144 for seven just before tea.Any hopes the West Indies harboured of an improbable victory had disappeared in the afternoon with the demise of Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Darren Bravo, the two key middle-order batsmen who resumed after the lunch interval with the responsibility resting on their shoulders of leading the home side out of the early trouble.Craig had Chanderpaul stumped for 25, the first time in his 20-year Test career, comprising 156 matches and 266 innings, that he had been stumped. Bravo got to 40 put departed in exactly the same manner of his first innings dismissal, slicing a drive to Kane Williamson at gully. In the first innings, the successful bowler was Neil Wagner. This time though Southee was the celebrating bowler. He had also removed West Indies captain Denesh Ramdin, who got to 29 before edging a catch to Ross Taylor at first slip. One of the major problems for us in this match was the inability to knock over the New Zealand lower-order, said Ramdin. In the batting department, those who got starts for us could have pushed on, but it didnt happen.McCullums declaration just before the start of play, setting the West Indies 308 to win, lay down the challenge to his bowlers to deliver victory and they responded almost immediately.Boult struck the first two blows. Kraigg Braithwaite misjudged the line of an inswinging delivery and had his off-stump knocked back, while new batsman Kirk Edwards lived a charmed life before edging into the safe hands of Taylor at first slip.Chris Gayle, who has been troubled by a back injury and struggled to find his best form in the series, was next to go, bowled for 11 off the inside-edge as he aimed a big drive at Southee to reduce the West Indies to 31 for three.

Football: 'Amazing' Messi is our Maradona, says coach

Posted:

SAO PAULO (AFP) - Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella Monday hailed Lionel Messi's amazing World Cup form and compared him to Diego Maradona during the team's title run in 1986.Sabella said he never had any doubts that Messi, who has not always produced his best at international level, would star at the tournament. The four-time world player of the year, aged 27, has hit four of Argentina's six goals en route to Tuesday's last 16 knock-out game against Switzerland in Sao Paulo.Messi's playing an amazing World Cup, that's what everybody expected, Sabella told reporters at Corinthians Arena.I expected it, so did his colleagues and so did all Argentinians in general. So of course we're happy, we're happy for the team and for him as well. He's an important player for us. Maradona was a very important player in that time and Messi is important as well.Messi scored against all of Argentina's group rivals Bosnia, Iran and Nigeria to lie one off Maradona's haul of five goals in 1986, when the Albiceleste last won the World Cup.Sabella said he was happy for the two-time world champions to rely on their star man -- much as Brazil have counted on Messi's Barcelona team-mate, Neymar.I think both players are amazing. Messi's the best in the world, Neymar is a great player and of course with players like this the team depends on them. It's normal, he said.

He said all seven individuals who were reported to have died in cold storage were actually hiding in their offices but could not escape.Senator Kulsoom slammed the findings by saying don’t distort facts for the sake of defending an institution.Secretary Civil Aviation claimed that five out of ten terrorists were killed right when they entered the airport whereas the remaining terrorists kept attacking from the hiding.
