| 6 killed in bus, truck collision in Khanewal Posted: KHANEWAL (Dunya News) – At least six people were killed and 18 others were wounded when a bus collided head-on with a truck in Khanewal on Thursday, Dunya News reported.According to details, a bus going to Multan from Faisalabad collided head-on with a truck near Pull Bagar at the Jhang Road in Khanewal, killing six persons on the spot and wounding 18 others.Rescue teams retrieved the dead and injured after cutting the body of the bus and shifted them to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Later, five critically injured people were shifted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan.  |

| Multan: Woman along with three daughters commits suicide Posted: MULTAN (Dunya News) – A woman along with three her daughters, four-year-old Rabia, six-year-old Mehnaz and seven-year-old Sabiha, jumped in a canal near Head Nawabpur in Multan on Thursday to commit suicide after a quarrel with her husband.Police and rescue teams reached the spot and recovered bodies of woman and her two daughters from the canal while search for seven-year-old Sabiha is still going on.Police have shifted the dead bodies to Nishtar Hospital for autopsy and also started investigation.  |
| PML-Q to release white paper on poor performance of Punjab Govt Posted: LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) has termed the four-year tenure of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in Punjab as total failure and announced to release a white paper on poor performance of the provincial government.PML-Q central leader Ch Pervaiz Elahi will present the white paper on poor performance of Punjab Govt during a press conference at 12:00noon today (Friday).A spokesman of PML-Q said that Punjab government has failed to give relief to the people. He said that contrary to their tall claims, Punjab government has done nothing for the betterment of the people.  |
| Punjab budget for FY 2017-18 to be presented today Posted: LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab budget for the fiscal year 2017-18 with an estimated outlay of over Rs 1935 billion will be presented today (Friday). Punjab Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha will present the budget in the Punjab Assembly.According to sources, Rs 639 would be allocated for the annual development programme whereas the Punjab will get Rs 1162 from the federal government.Sources further said that Rs 165 billion will be earmarked for law and order while Rs 355 will be spent on education and Rs 185 billion would be allocated for the health sector.Sources further informed that Rs 260 billion will be allocated for the payment of debts. Rs 245 billion will be spent on construction of roads while Rs 100 billion will be earmarked for housing and community services.  |

| Brazil recession recedes but outlook still dark Posted: RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) - Brazil started to emerge from its worst ever recession in the first quarter, officials and analysts said Thursday, but it may not be out of the woods yet with a weak economic recovery threatened by political turmoil.The economy grew by one percent in the first quarter of 2017, ending eight consecutive quarters of shrinkage, the state statistics office said.That offered a glimmer of light for Latin Americas biggest economy -- and could throw a lifeline to President Michel Temer as he tries to fend off a huge corruption scandal.But data from the IBGE statistics bureau put the good news in its dismal context: the first quarters GDP was down 0.4 percent compared to the same period in 2016.Finance Minister Henrique Mereilles called it a historic day after Brazils worst recession in a century that has seen millions lose their jobs.There is still some way to go to achieve a full economic recovery, but we are heading in the right direction, he said in a statement.- Stop-start recovery -=========================Overall in 2015 and 2016, the economy dropped a whopping 3.8 percent, then 3.6 percent.Brazil has finally exited recession, but the recovery will be stop-start, wrote analyst Neil Shearing of research group Capital Economics, in a note on Thursday.He warned of the risk of weaker growth in the second quarter -- and thats before the full effects of the latest political crisis are felt.Economist Mauro Rochlin at Brazils Getulio Vargas Foundation told AFP the recession cannot be considered to be over until a second quarter of growth is registered.He said the economy had sunk so low that businesses had got a boost from falling wages. He saw a trend towards recovery, but with still quite a narrow base.- Farming boost -=================The first-quarter bounce was led by a surge from Brazils giant agro-industry, up 13.4 percent. The industrial sector grew 0.9 percent.Services were flat and while that was an improvement on negative growth, it also signaled a lack of confidence by a public battered by unemployment and continuously falling family consumption.Economists say the patchy improvements in different sectors, and the risk that the next quarter will reverse the gains, make it too early to declare an end to the recession.But Temer, who faces a probe into alleged corruption and plotting to silence a witness, will likely trumpet the news as proof of his successful management -- and reason for him to remain in power.- Austerity and scandal -=========================The conservative president has already repeatedly declared an end to the recession, citing forecasts predicting 2017 will close with about 0.5 percent growth.Temer is pushing austerity reforms to impose fiscal discipline -- unpopular with ordinary Brazilians but backed by the markets.Temer argues that any move to remove him from office would doom the effort and plunge Brazil into new instability.There was another piece of good news on Wednesday, when unemployment figures showed a slight dip to 13.6 percent rather than yet another record rise. It was the first fall in unemployment figures since 2014.Even so, 14 million people officially remain without jobs.Later on Wednesday, the Central Bank lowered its key interest rate further by one full percent.The fragile recovery may now depend as much on politics as economics. Temer came into office just over a year ago, when the leftist president Dilma Rousseff was impeached for breaking government accounting rules.He promised stability and a return to economic health by the end of 2018, when his mandate ends. However, Temer now finds himself facing far more serious allegations than Rousseff ever did.  |

The locals realised the situation and started beating these robbers. These street criminals were handed over to the police before fierce beating.The residents claimed these persons attempted robbery after which they were enraged due to such actions. According to police, the alleged robbers had injuries and bruises when they were handed over.The robbers were being beaten when the police intervened and rescued them from further injuries. They admitted to nearby hospital for medical assistance.  |

| Canada nurse pleads guilty to serial murders of seniors Posted: OTTAWA (AFP) - A former nurse pleaded guilty Thursday to the killing of eight elderly residents under her care at Canadian retirement homes, closing one of the worst serial murder cases in the nations history.Elizabeth Wettlaufer, shackled in a prisoner box inside a packed courtroom, answered simply yes when a judge asked if she had committed the premeditated murders.She also admitted to four other attempted murders and two assaults.The court heard that Wettlaufer had been suffering from extreme anger over her job and life.She put to rest speculation that she had acted on behalf of the patients, saying her victims did not consent to being administered insulin overdoses.Canada legalized doctor-assisted suicide four months before Wettlaufers arrest in October 2016.The short, stout and bespectacled 49-year-old now faces life in prison.The killings of the eight men and women aged 75 to 96 occurred between 2007 and 2014 at two care facilities in Ontario province where Wettlaufer worked, often in charge of night shifts.The case came to light only after she had confessed in online postings and then to a psychiatrist who tipped off police.She had been a registered nurse since 1995 but surrendered her medical license just prior to her arrest.The daughter of one of the victims told local media that her mother suffered from Alzheimers and was in a coma shortly before her death.Others expressed shock at the news.My dad got murdered, the daughter of one of the victims told public broadcaster CBC. However Sabbir came back strongly as Alex Hales tries a slog sweep and handed over a catch to the substitute Sunzamul Islam. Bangladesh managed to score 305 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted overs.Overs 30, Score 159/2Moeen Ali was introduced after the fifteenth over as he conceded four runs in his first over.
