ISLAMABAD, July 29: A possible clash between executive and judiciary was averted on Friday when the latter showed some flexibility in its stance on the issue of transfer of senior bureaucrats and the former lauded the move.
 
A meeting of 'chief executives' and governors of provinces jointly presided over by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani "dispelled the notion propagated by some people of a clash among institutions and expressed satisfaction that there was no danger of any such clash"...

Balochistan CM's nephew dies in Mastung attack

QUETT, July 29: A nephew of Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani was killed and 24 other people, 12 of them security personnel, were injured in a powerful bomb blast and a burst of intense firing in the football stadium in Mastung, about 50 kilometres from here, on Friday.
 
Akmal Raisani, the 14-year-old son of Nawabzada Siraj Raisani, younger brother of the chief minister, was killed in the blast which rocked the stadium during the prize distribution ceremony after a football match...

US sends envoy as ties remain tense

WASHNGTON, July 29: US special envoy Mark Grossman left for Pakistan for talks on the Afghan reconciliation process, as the State Department on Friday rejected media reports that Washington has included Pakistan among rogue states.
 
"Not true," said a State Department official when asked to comment on media reports that Washington had included Pakistan among the so-called rogue states whose diplomats would need special permission for travelling outside Washington. They also cannot visit US military installations...
