Gilani stresses joint efforts for N-safety
-----------------------------------------------------------------
By Baqir Sajjad Syed
SEOUL, March 26: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday emphasised 'national responsibility' for strengthening nuclear security as he renewed demand for access to civilian nuclear energy and made a strong pitch for Pakistan's membership of atomic cartels, in particular the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

"National measures are the most important part of our efforts to enhance nuclear security. If nations do not move, nothing would move. If nations move feebly, nuclear risks increase many times," Mr Gilani said at a dinner attended by world leaders participating in the Nuclear Security Summit. The two-day summit will chalk out plans for reducing the threat of nuclear terrorism by curbing illicit trafficking and improving the security of nuclear installations....

Commission misses second deadline to complete memo probe
----------------------------------------------------------------
By Malik Asad
ISLAMABAD, March 26: The memo commission missed its second deadline given by the Supreme Court to complete investigation into the controversy as former ambassador Husain Haqqani did not appear before it on Monday for cross-examination.

The commission, headed by Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, regretted that despite notices issued to Mr Haqqani on March 1 and 18, he did not appear for recording his statement and cross-examination in Islamabad. It gave Mr Haqqani a last opportunity and warned that the commission could attach his property and issue arrest warrant to ensure his attendance or initiate contempt of court proceedings against him if he failed to comply with the court orders next time....

-------------------------------------------------------------

'America must rebuild trust'
--------------------------------------------------------------
KABUL, March 26: Afghanistan's Taliban will eventually resume talks with the United States, a former commander of militants said, but it will depend on how Washington repairs trust damaged by a string of incidents, notably the killing of 16 Afghans by a US soldier.

Confused, shaky converted girls appear before SC
--------------------------------------------------------------
By Nasir Iqbal
ISLAMABAD, March 26: Away from political crises the Supreme Court is occupied with these days, its hallowed halls on Monday were witness to a human tragedy.

Instead of politicians, bureaucrats and ministers, parents, daughters and siblings stood across each other in the court and made emotional appeals to judges. Fathers broke down and daughters tried to speak freely surrounded by an eager media, intimidating policemen and sullen husbands. Judges who have honed their cross-questioning skills on hard-nosed politicians had to gently try to pry the truth from vulnerable young women.....
