Court issues notice to NAB chief in rental power caseBy Our Staff ReporterISLAMABAD, Sept 14: The Supreme Court issued on Friday a show cause notice to National Accountability Bureau Chairman Admiral (retd) Faseeh Bokhari seeking an explanation why he should not be arraigned under contempt charges for not implementing its verdict against the owners of rental power plants (RPPs). “We may note that the NAB chairman shall be responsible if the officers responsible for delaying the implementation of this court’s judgment go out of country or take any other evasive measures,” said Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, who heads a three-judge bench hearing the RPP implementation case. | ||||||||||||||
Farooq tried ‘to go his own way’: UK policeLONDON, Sept 14: The anti-terrorism unit of the London Metropolitan Police revealed on Friday that a few months before his assassination MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq had started making efforts for building an ‘independent political profile’, reports BBC. The Metropolitan Police have issued a fresh appeal for information as they try to solve Dr Farooq’s murder in Edgware two years ago. Detectives investigating the case believe he was building his independent political profile before he was killed at his doorsteps on Sept 16, 2010 when he was returning home from work. In October, the police had found at the scene of the crime a knife and a brick they believed had been used in the attack. | ||||||||||||||

NAB to seek court view on holders of public officeISLAMABAD, Sept 14: The National Accountability Bureau is reported to be considering to seek legal opinion from the Supreme Court whether or not the judiciary comes under the purview of the NAB Ordinance. “The NAB may approach the Supreme Court to seek a clarification as to whether holders of public office include members of the judiciary or not,” said a NAB official. | ||||||||||||||
