ECP orders govt to de-notify SBP appointment

ISLAMABAD, March 25: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken notice of the appointment of deputy governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, allegedly in violation of its ban on fresh recruitments, and asked the government to immediately de-notify it.

Police report on Badami Bagh attack: officers took refuge in godown

‘Land allotment cancellation not completed’

KARACHI, March 25: The Supreme Court has noted that there was a question mark on allotment of land at rates lower than the market value and a committee set up for cancellation of such allotments has not completed its task so far.

According to a press release issued on Monday, a five-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the Karachi killings sou motu judgment implementation case.It noted that there had been a question mark on the allotments of land at throwaway prices. On Jan 3, 2001, in pursuance of the Sindh Urban State Land (Cancellation of Allotments, Conversion and Exchanges) Ordinance, 2000, the allotments, conversions or exchanges of urban state lands obtained or granted for residential, commercial or industrial purposes at rates lower than the market value in violation of law or ban from Jan 1, 1985, were cancelled...
